Anche un recente articolo conferma che il prossimo progetto di Elton sarą proprio questo musical:

CITAZIONE
Despite a newly achieved sense of calm, John is ready to tackle a more morose subject in his next project: a musical adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" with "Billy Elliot" collaborator Lee Hall.

"It's not an easy task because it's got a horribly sad ending," said John. "The characters are obviously all animals, but I love the thought of that because it's difficult. He's a brilliant lyricist. He's not going to throw it to me until he's finished all the lyrics, so hopefully in the next two or three months, we'll look at that and start writing it."

Anch'io direi senza dubbio "basta coi musical", ma tutto sommato questo mi interessa. Sono proprio curioso di vedere come verrą trattato. Aspettiamo.

George Orwell's classic novel 1984 is getting a new movie remake, according to reports.
The Hollywood Reporter said the book, which was published in 1949, has been picked up by Imagine Entertainment who want to release a new take on the work.
Hailed as a masterpiece, 1984 remains one of the most influential novels.
The story of Winston Smith and a totalitarian society made terms such as Big Brother and newsspeak part of everyday language.
The book has been adapted several times for film and television, most recently directed by Michael Radford and starring John Hurt, Richard Burton and Suzanna Hamilton.
The Hollywood Reporter said that the producers are currently seeking a writer for the project.
Meanwhile, Elton John has been reported to be working on a stage musical adaptation of Orwell's Animal Farm.

http://www.eltondaily.com/2012/06/elton-at...medium=facebook

[...] Sir Elton briefly discussed the musical version of George Orwell's Animal Farm he and Hall are currently planning.

"It's completely dark and completely different to this," he said. "Lee's finishing the lyrics right now but I haven't started on the music yet."

Published in 1945, Animal Farm tells of a farm whose animals - led by the pigs Snowball and Napoleon - rebel against their human keeper.

"It has lots of pigs in it, all singing," said Hall, who was quick to dispel comparisons with 2011's West End musical Betty Blue Eyes.

Based on the Alan Bennett film A Private Function, the short-lived show featured an animatronic pig with Kylie Minogue's voice.

Hall, however, lightheartedly insisted his latest venture would feature "real" pigs that were "in training as we speak".
